I’m in a four wheel drive truck with my dad, my birther, sister in law and two dogs. An older man who we know is driving. My husband Billy is there too. We’re quickly trying to get someplace that is a long drive. We come up over a ridge and the road is gone. It’s all huge beach dunes. We drive along the ocean high up on a bluff. I’m glad our truck, a Ford Bronco like the one O really own, has 4 wheel drive. Billy and the dogs and my sister in law get out and are running along the beach. I begin to slide down the mammoth dune as the sand erodes from under me. My dad encourages me to “get up”. I find some metal infrastructure in the dunes and tell myself I am strong enough and will get back up to the top I do. I’m concerned about our dogs, but they scamper up the dunes to us just fine.
